The entry point for community members seeking emergency housing assistance

Community Teamwork’s Housing Consumer Education Center (HCEC), one of nine across the Commonwealth, covers a territory that encompasses 41 communities throughout the Merrimack Valley, North Shore and Cape Ann region.
- Providing counseling to tenants experiencing housing instability andshort term financial assistance for rent and mortgage arrears
- Providing connection to other services at Community Teamwork and external partners
- Providing counseling on alternatives to shelter
This is where people in emergency situations can connect to counseling if they are facing such situations as eviction, foreclosure, loss of housing due to fire or condemnation. Emergency housing assistance services also include limited emergency rental assistance when funds are available.
Clients come to the Resource Center/Housing Consumer Education Center through a variety of means: walk-ins to the Resource Center, phone calls directly from clients seeking services and referrals from other departments within Community Teamwork, Mass Housing, community service providers and legislators.

What types of subsidized housing are available? How do I apply? How do I follow up on my applicatiosn? What qualifies me as an emergency or priority?
You will also be presented with information/resources on subsidized housing across Massachusetts and throughout New England, websites that can assist you in your housing search and other tools to help you keep track of your housing search activities.
