CTI Celebrates Local LGBTQ+ Leaders of Excellence ~ Frannie Collazo

My name is Fran *Frannie* Collazo. I am a Photographer, Model and Activist. I have been
involved with the LGBTQIAA+ community for nearly half my life. I have been part of protests
and marches in the Boston and New York area since I was 17 (I’m now 37).

THRIVE Communities awarded 10-year Cummings Foundation grant

Lowell, MA – THRIVE Communities is one of 150 local nonprofits that will share in $30 million through Cummings Foundation’s major annual grants program. The Lowell-based organization was selected from a total of 630 applicants during a competitive review process. It will receive $300,000 over ten years ($30k/year).

‘A perfect storm’: Haitian refugees flow into an overburdened shelter system

On a recent day in Boston’s Mattapan neighborhood, a steady stream of people came through the front door of the nonprofit Immigrant Families Services Institute where they were directed to take a number and head to a waiting area. More than a thousand Haitian refugees in just the past three weeks have come there seeking help, said executive director Geralde Gabeau.
